The N7 Initiative at the Munich Security Conference: Advancing Regional Dialogue

|

February 16, 2025

The N7 Initiative joined the 2025 Munich Security Conference (MSC), one of the world’s premier security conferences, engaging in meaningful discussions with senior policymakers and experts on regional security and cooperation. A key highlight of the N7 Initiative’s presence at MSC was hosting Deputy Special Presidential Envoy for Middle East Peace Morgan Ortagus for a closed-door briefing with MSC’s inaugural Middle East Consultation Group. Ortagus shared her insights on the evolving landscape of US engagement in the Middle East with the group, which was comprised of distinguished officials and experts from the region.

Strengthening US, European, and Middle Eastern Collaboration

Beyond the main conference’s programming, the N7 Initiative also organized a private dinner gathering senior officials and stakeholders from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Also attended by Ortagus, this exclusive event provided a platform for candid discussions on pressing regional challenges and opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the Middle East and beyond. The dialogue underscored the importance of sustained engagement between the US, its European allies, and Middle Eastern partners in addressing shared security concerns and fostering economic collaboration through actionable programs like the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC).

The Role of the N7 Initiative in Regional Stability

As geopolitical shifts continue to shape global security dynamics, the N7 Initiative remains committed to promoting dialogue and fostering partnerships between Israel and Arab and Muslim-majority countries. The discussions at MSC highlighted the necessity of continued engagement on key issues such as economic development, regional security, and strategic cooperation. With MSC acting as one of the first public forums after the 2024 US Presidential elections, the N7 Initiative reinforced its role as a vital convener of regional stakeholders by bringing together key members of the new Trump administration and US allies in the Middle East. Looking ahead, the N7 Initiative will continue working with partners to build on these conversations, advancing initiatives that strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties across the region.

IMEC must be more than a trade route. Digital integration should be a priority.

The IMEC should prioritize digital integration alongside physical infrastructure, building on India and the UAE’s MAITRI platform as a scalable model to streamline trade and harmonize regulations that would transform the corridor into far more than just a transportation corridor.

"Sudan and Israel have much to gain from normalized relations, both economically, diplomatically, and strategically. But normalization must be rooted in legitimacy, not desperation; in peace, not war; and shared democratic values, not transactional opportunism."
